Online investors can now pay their online trade commissions with RBC Direct Investing’s ‘Trade with Points’ program. “Trade with Points gives investors another form of currency to use online, as they can now use their RBC Rewards points to pay their trade commissions for online stock, ETF, and options trades placed on Canadian and U.S. exchanges,” says Rosalyn Kent, president and CEO, RBC Direct Investing. Trade with Points is part of the company’s solutions for the evolving needs of online investors. Other initiatives include the introduction of $9.95 flat commissions and championing increased access to lower cost Series D mutual funds. RBC also has a social community platform, with includes a ‘universe’ page, where investors can compare the performance of their portfolio to those of other investor’s. Community members can also converse online with each other – without revealing their real identities – to discuss investment ideas and strategies and learn from each other in a secure online environment. RBC points can be used for fees, as mentioned, and can also be converted into cash for deposits or contributions to eligible RBC Direct Investing personal accounts.
