Affluent consumers were 73 per cent more likely than non-affluent consumers to make a purchase on luxury brand retail websites during the fourth quarter of 2013, says an index by Martini Media. While one would expect affluent consumers to make more luxury purchases, the degree to which the affluent were more likely to purchase jumped 57 per cent from the year-ago period. The index also addresses how affluent audiences engage with luxury brands, notably there was 46 per cent more engagement with luxury fashion brands than non-luxury brands.
